Embroidery Thread Colors
We stitch on Madeira USA thread across every program. Polyneon polyester is our day-to-day standard, with Classic Rayon, FrostedMatt, Burmilana, recycled Polyneon Green, Sensa Green Lyocell, metallics, and FR Fire Fighter available for the right brief. PMS color matching on request.
Thread types we use
Classic Rayon
Lustrous 100% viscose rayon. The original high-sheen embroidery thread. Available in #40, #60, and #30 weights across 400+ colors. Soft hand, brilliant shine, ideal for fashion apparel and decorative work.
Polyneon
100% polyester, high-shine. Our most-used thread, colorfast and chlorine bleach resistant, rated for industrial laundering. Available in #40 (standard), #60 (small detail), and #75 (micro lettering). 400+ colors plus fluorescents.
Polyneon Green
100% recycled polyester made from post-consumer PET. Same performance specs as standard Polyneon #40. The default choice for sustainability-focused programs.
Sensa Green
Sustainable Lyocell thread sourced from FSC-certified wood pulp. Feather-soft hand, runs like rayon, fully biodegradable. Good fit for natural-fiber apparel and eco programs.
FrostedMatt
100% polyester with a true matte finish. Used when shine would compete with the design, military, tactical, heritage, and outdoor brands. #40 weight.
Burmilana
50% wool, 50% acrylic blend in a thick #12 weight. Produces a hand-stitched, raised wool look. Great for varsity-style lettering, beanies, and heritage apparel.
BurmilanaCo
50% cotton, 50% acrylic blend, #12 weight. Same thick textured look as Burmilana with a softer, cotton-forward hand. Good for natural-fiber programs.
Metallic
Smooth metallic thread in gold, silver, copper, and color metallics. Slower stitch speeds; used for accent stitching rather than full-coverage fills.
Supertwist
Twisted metallic construction that runs more cleanly than standard metallics at production speed. Holds up better through wash testing.
Polyester CR Metallic
Polyester core wrapped in metallic, the best of both worlds. Production-friendly speeds with true metallic appearance and improved durability.
Fire Fighter
Flame-resistant Nomex-compatible thread for PPE, uniforms, and any garment with FR requirements. #40 weight.
Special Effect
Glow-in-the-dark, color-changing (solar / heat reactive), and other novelty effects. Used as accents, longer lead times.
Color matching
Madeira maintains a thread library of 400+ colors mapped to PMS values. For most PMS colors there's a within-1-shade thread match available. For brand-critical colors, we can custom-dye thread to spec (minimum 1 lb run, additional lead time and cost). For client-facing color approval, we produce a small stitched swatch before full production.
